KUCHING, Sept 9: Singaporean-born rock legend Datuk Ramli Sarip will hold a ‘rock ‘n’ dine’ concert at Dewan Majma Tunku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah here at 7.30pm on Nov 20.

The concert is part of his ‘Ramli Sarip Tour 2022: Cinta Di Sebalik Musim’, held nationwide in seven destinations.

The 70-year-old, also known as ‘Papa Rock’, described Sarawak as among the states where he would go for leisure and tourism.

“But this time, this concert will not be just for entertainment as we have a mission to help raise funds for those in need.

“Secondly, I want to share my musical journey; the selected songs I have recorded for the past 45 years to my latest full-length album titled ‘Rasa’ which was produced last year,” he said during a press conference held at YCC Delite, Majma Mall here today.

He further mentioned the selection of songs for the upcoming concert would see a development of three stages from spiritual songs, popular and rock classic songs, and ‘evergreen’ songs.

He also welcomed collaborations from other artistes who wished to join him for the cause, stating that they could contact him directly.

He also noted that the upcoming concert with the concept of ‘rock ‘n’ dine’ may limit the number of spectators, but he deemed that such a theme is suitable for the selection of songs.

“For example, the ‘Malam Srikandi Zaman’ theme is dedicated to mothers, wives, and single mothers hustling to take care of their families.

“So for this concert, people get to dine and enjoy music at the same time, so we cannot ‘blast’ the music and make them uncomfortable. So we have to balance those things.

“If there’s any opportunity to do a bigger concert with the same or other organisers, we welcome such opportunity. We are ready,” he explained.

The two-hour exclusive ‘rock ‘n’ dine’ concert is organised by YKAB in collaboration with Rasa Karya Sdn Bhd.

It will be limited to 84 tables with prices ranging from RM2,000 up to RM12,000. Each table can accommodate 10 people.
