KUCHING, June 23: Onlookers were aghast when a teenage girl was spotted standing outside the 8th floor of a building here this afternoon.

According to a Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) report, the teenager who has an intellectual disability is believed to have wandered out from the lounge area of a government office while her father was attending to matters there. The report did not mention how the teenager managed to find her way outside the building but it is believed the teenager was not suicidal.

An emergency call was placed to the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) by the police at 4.05pm, requesting assistance from Bomba after the teenager was spotted high up outside the building by building management personnel.

The police managed to get hold of the teenager and bring her back into the building with help from building management personnel.

She was later sent to Sarawak General Hospital with an EMRS vehicle which was escorted by two police vehicles. — DayakDaily
