KUCHING, Sept 4: The Pan Borneo Highway project is now at 86.54 per cent completion as of Aug 24, says Senior Minister of Works Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof.

He said there are several sections which will be opened this year, with three more expected to be completed by next year.

“The three sections will only be completed by next year following several issues at the site which require a review process,” he said, citing Bukit Begunan Section as an example where the soil condition is not suitable for the initial design.

He mentioned that the other two sections are in Sibuti, Miri and Lambir.

He told reporters this after an engagement session with the media held at the Waterfront Hotel here last night (Sept 3).

The Pan Borneo Highway project worth RM16.1 billion was launched in March 2015.

On Aug 7 this year, Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during the closing ceremony of the State-level Malaysian Family Aspiration Tour 2022 held at Dataran Perayaan Petra Jaya, announced that the project is expected to be fully completed in the first quarter of next year. — DayakDaily
