KUCHING, Oct 2: Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Kuching District announced traffic management plans for the Sarawak Governor/Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s 78th birthday celebration, which will be held on Saturday (Oct 12) at Padang Merdeka here.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said a road closure will be implemented at Jalan McDougall/Padang Merdeka beginning Oct 3, at 8am, to give way for the main stage installation works.
The road will be opened to the public again after the opening ceremony scheduled to take place on Oct 12.
“Members of the public who are passing through Jalan McDougall to Padang Merdeka are advised to make a U-turn in front of Plaza Aurora,” he said in a statement today.
He further requested the public to refrain from parking along the roadside and to plan their journey in advance, choosing alternative routes to minimise congestion.
