KUCHING, March 12: More than 800 participants took part in the Kamek Miak Sarawak (KMS) Unity Run 2023 today.
Held at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) foyer, besides promoting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening unity, the run was organised to raise funds for charity.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, the guest of honour at the event, commended KMS for organising the event.
“This is a good programme. I think everyone was looking forward to it after a long time due to Covid-19 and during this rainy season,” said Billy when met by reporters after the run.
Meanwhile, KMS Unity Run 2023 event manager Mohd Firdaus Mohri said the contribution would be donated to Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Amal Jariah Komuniti Kuching to help cover their daily operational costs to provide funeral services for free to the Muslim and non-Muslim communities.
He also said they would organise similar events outside of Kuching with relevant local authorities and agencies to ensure it runs smoothly.
Held with Jobstock, the event saw 817 runners in the 3km and 5km categories.
More than 30 lucky draw prizes were also given out during the event. — DayakDaily
