Over 500 participants expected at seminars on strata management and maintenance

KUCHING, Aug 22: Over 500 individuals have registered for a series of seminars on strata management and maintenance, a joint effort by Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda), the Ministry of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government (MPHLG) and the Land and Survey Department Sarawak.

According to Sheda’s press release, the overwhelming demand reflects the urgency and significance of understanding and applying legislation to processes and procedures that affect everyday strata living.

The joint seminar aims to explain key points and guide stakeholders through relevant provisions of the Strata Management Ordinance 2019, Strata (Management and Maintenance) Regulations 2022, and Strata (Subsidiary Titles) Ordinance 2019, all of which came into effect earlier this year.

Property developers, property managers, the legal profession, surveyors, architects, local authorities, bankers, real estate agents, and parcel owners have registered for the series of seminars, which will be held in Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, and Kuching.

The first of the seminar series titled “Your Essential Guide to Strata Management & Maintenance in Sarawak” was officiated at on Aug 22, 2022 at the Grand Palace Hotel in Miri by Deputy Premier of Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also MPHLG minister.

Also present at the opening ceremony were MPHLG (Local Government) Deputy Minister Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, MPHLG (Public Health and Housing) Deputy Minister Michael Tiang Ming Tee, MPHLG permanent secretary Datu Antonio Kahti Galis, Sheda president Augustine Wong, and Sheda Miri branch chairman James Hii Sing Lung.

Places for seminars in Miri and Kuching have sold out to maximum capacity. Interested parties who have yet to register are advised to contact Bintulu or Sibu for remaining seats.

The session in Bintulu will be held on Aug 24 and 25, 2022 whereas the session in Sibu will be held on Sept 1 and 2, 2022.
