Over 2,600 police officers to be deployed for Sukma Sarawak 2024

MIRI, Aug 9: More than 2,600 police officers and personnel of various ranks will be deployed across all venues for the 21st Sukma Sarawak 2024.

Sarawak Commissioner of Police Dato Mancha Ata stated that 2,679 officers and personnel will be mobilised, supported by 886 officers from the People’s Volunteer Corps Department (Rela) and 25 officers from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), who will focus on safety and security control.

“All officers will be mobilised across all venues,” Mancha said during a press conference today at the Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD) in preparation for the upcoming Sukma Sarawak 2024.

Mancha explained that the work scopes include security control for distinguished guests, Sukma contingents, including coaches and athletes, members of the public, traffic control, venue security, and monitoring all forms of security assistance in case of emergencies.

The Sarawak police also advised the public to adhere to the law and follow instructions from security forces during the opening and closing ceremonies of the games.
