KUCHING, Feb 26: More than 1,000 frontliners receive Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccination at 41 health clinics and hospitals across Sarawak today when the Chinese are celebrating Chap Goh Mei.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian disclosed this after receiving his own jab at Petra Jaya Health Clinic this afternoon.

He said among the more than 1,000 frontliners receiving the Covid-19 vaccination today, the majority of them are medical personnel.

The administering of the vaccines for these frontliners, Dr Sim said, has been simultaneously carried out at health clinics and hospitals in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah and Kapit divisions.

Talking about the experience of receiving the vaccination, he said it was like suffering a “small mosquito bite” on his left arm which otherwise, was a good experience.

Dr Sim said one vial of the vaccine can be used for six persons. TO avoid any wastage of the vaccines, vaccination has been administered using needles of 25G (25 gauge) instead of 22G (22 gauge).

He will be monitoring himself for fever for the next 24 hours and is ready to take his second dose after 21 days’ time.

Dr Sim who is also Batu Kawa assemblyman was among one of the first Sarawakians to receive Pfizer Covid-19 injection with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg this afternoon at 3pm at Petra Jaya Health Clinic here.

Sarawak Covid-19 vaccination programme was officially rolled out today following the arrival of first consignment of 23,400 doses of Pfizer-BioNTach ultra-cold vaccine in Sarawak on Feb 24.
