KUALA LUMPUR, April 23: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Dato Sri Tiong King Sing is open to a merger with Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS).

However, the Bintulu MP said it is ultimately up to PRS to decide based on its ‘vision and mission’.

In a news report by Free Malaysia Today (FMT), Tiong, who is also the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, said anyone is free to suggest a merger and emphasised the broader objective of such alliances in working together to develop Sarawak and Malaysia.

“For us (PDP), our door is always open,” he said, as quoted by FMT.

The Dudong assemblyman was asked to comment on a Facebook post by Julau MP Larry Sng suggesting that PDP and PRS merge following the dissolution of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) to join the former.

On April 6, PSB dissolved with more than 80,000 members accepted en bloc into PDP. — DayakDaily
