Orphans, underprivileged feted by STIDC to breaking of fast

KUCHING, May 22: Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) held a special breaking of fast for 180 orphans from 13 primary and secondary schools at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here last night.

This annual event is part of STIDC’s corporate social responsibility and outreach programme that aims to spread festive cheer and lessen the burden of the less fortunate.


Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohd Moshidi Abdul Ghani, Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh and Assistant Minister of E-Commerce Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais were among the distinguished guests present.

They enjoyed breaking fast together with the underprivileged children as well as representatives of various charitable organisations.

During the event, Awang Tengah, who is also Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources, presented festive goodies and green packets (‘duit raya’) to the children as well as charitable organisations from around Kuching and Samarahan Divisions.

In the spirit of Ramadhan, STIDC together with its subsidiaries will also be contributing financial assistance totalling RM289,000 to 63 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) statewide to assist in carrying out their respective activities.

Donations were also given to the less fortunate from Kampung Belawai, Kampung Jerijeh and Kampung Rajang. — DayakDaily
