Ops to nab traffic offenders underway at Sarawak-Brunei border

MIRI, March 16: Traffic police here are currently conducting an operation code named “Ops Saman Tertunggak Warga Asing” at Sungai Tujoh, Sarawak-Brunei border here until March 17 to collect outstanding traffic summonses.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah in a press statement today revealed that there are 65,000 outstanding traffic summonses involving foreigners.

The operation kicked off on Thursday. Several payment counters have been set up at the Sunggai Tojuh Immigration check-point accordingly.


Lim also said that the operation is meant to enforce awareness amongst the public on the importance of their responsibility to pay their outstanding summonses.

He advised members of the public to not simply believe fake allegations that accused the traffic police of abusing their powers during this operation. — DayakDaily
