KUCHING, July 5: Oppstar Berhad has expressed openness to collaboration in producing Integrated Circuit (IC) designs in Sarawak.
In a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Oppstar Berhad chief executive officer Chean Hun Wah emphasised the critical role of IC design in artificial intelligence (AI) and data center development.
“Recently we have seen a lot of expansion in deep technology where everyone is talking about artificial intelligence. We see that IC design is actually an important part and that’s where we actually create holism,” Chean said during a recent courtesy call to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.
Chean also mentioned the company’s plans to expand its workforce from 300 to 500 employees to prepare for product actualization.
Founded in 2014, Oppstar Technology is a semiconductor company specializing in the development of analog, mixed-signal, and digital IP/ASIC/SoC.
