KUCHING, March 28: Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong is seeking clarification from the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) regarding the actions of Sinar Mekar Development Sdn Bhd (Sinar Mekar) on the Landeh Heights Phase 2 housing project in Siburan.
Yong said in a statement released today that Sinar Mekar had told the home buyers that since the company is not the project’s developer, it is not accountable for the issue with the occupation permit (OP) that Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has not yet issued for Landeh Heights Phase 2.
According to recent news reports, MPP chairman Tan Kai stated that the delay in issuing the OP was caused by the developer’s failure to rectify some unsatisfactory work found on the site.
The Landeh Heights Phase 2 home buyers have been waiting for the OP since 2018, as per the news reports.
“30 house buyers are still waiting to take possession of their houses, which were supposed to be completed in 2020-2021. According to house buyers, many of them have to keep paying rental of houses on top of servicing the bank interest for the financing of these ‘abandoned’ houses,” Yong asserted.
She went on to say that Maya Sinarjaya Sdn Bhd (Maya Sinarjaya) is the landowner for the Landeh Heights Phase 2 housing project and has appointed and empowered Sinar Mekar to develop the land.
“Sinar Mekar then entered into a joint development agreement with Mahsaf Jaya Sdn Bhd (Mahsaf Jaya), under which Mahsaf Jaya applied for the sale advertising permit, became the vendor, and is the party who signs the Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with the respective house buyers,” she claimed.
Yong further stressed that MPP has yet to issue the OP for the project because the developer failed to meet the requirements, resulting in house buyers not obtaining possession of their property. — DayakDaily
