Only one person arrested so far under MCO — Sarawak police chief

KUCHING, March 24: Only one person has been arrested under the Movement Control Order in Sarawak as of today.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said the person was arrested last Saturday (March 21).


“At this stage, only one person has been arrested last Saturday where the person, who is a lorry driver, showed aggression towards the policemen manning the roadblocks in Kuching,” Aidi told DayakDaily.

He said the person will be charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in discharging public duty.

Under Section 186 of the Penal Code, whoever voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the discharge of his public functions, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to RM10,000, or both. — DayakDaily
