KUCHING, Jan 21: Out of 40 districts in Sarawak, there is only 15 districts remained in the safe green zone with no Covid-19 cases reported.
The 15 districts are Lawas, Lundu, Bau, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Matu, Saratok, Pusa, Kabong, Tatau, Daro, Song, Marudi and Telang Usan.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement today, stated that Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Beluru and Kanowit were still under red zone of Covid-19 pandemic spread with a total of 1,206 local cases reported in the past 14 days.
Sebauh and Dalat also maintained its orange status with 50 local cases reported in the past 14 days.
Pakan, Serian, Subis, Belaga, Betong, Meradong, Julau, Kapit, Simiunjan, Asajaya, Lubok Antu, Sarikei, Selangau, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Bukit Mabong, Bintulu, Limbang are still under yellow zone status with total of 87 local cases reported in the past 14 days.
Meanwhile, Sarawak reported one death and 132 new Covid-19 cases today (Jan 21), with Sibu confirming the highest number of cases at 62 followed by Kanowit (46), Bintulu (12), Kuching (3), and one each in Dalat, Lubok Antu, Serian and Selangau.
As such, the state tally of positive cases has now been pushed up to 2,702.
There were two active clusters in Sarawak namely Pasai in Sibu and Rakut in Miri recorded an increase in cases today.
Pasai Cluster in Sibu continued to detect a large number of infections with 88 cases reported to increase the total number of cases in the cluster to 982 as of today.
The Rakut Cluster in Miri also saw an increase of 18 cases today to increase the total number of cases in the cluster to 28 cases as of today.
The remaining six clusters namely Bukit Sekubong in Sebauh, Jelita and Bah Sayap in Miri, Keranji Tabuan and Stutong in Kuching as well as Mador in Meradong did not record any new cases today. — DayakDaily
