KUCHING, March 1: One healthcare personnel in Kapit was reported to have contracted Covid-19, raising the tally of infection among medical staff since Feb 9 to 224 throughout Sarawak.
According to a statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, apart from Kapit, no other districts reported any positive cases among healthcare frontliners.
On Feb 27, there was one case which involved a medical staff in Sibu.
Before that, there were five cases reported on Feb 25 involving three healthcare workers in Sibu and two medical personnel in Kuching.
State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing had on Feb 9 disclosed that there were a total of 162 cases of Covid-19 infections among medical staff recorded between January to Feb 8.
Right on the same day, four new cases were reported, followed by three more cases on Feb 10.
Thereafter, the number of cases of medical staff contracting Covid-19 were reported almost daily with four cases on Feb 11, one on Feb 12, four on Feb 13, one each on Feb 14 and Feb 15, eight on Feb 16, two on Feb 18, one on Feb 19, two on Feb 20, four on Feb 21 and eight on Feb 22.
There were none reported on Feb 23, but the next day (Feb 24) witnessed 12 cases from the Sibu district. — DayakDaily
