KUCHING, April 27: Malaysia has recorded 40 positive Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total number of infections to 5,820 nationwide.
Director general of Health Ministry Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in the ministry’s daily briefing in Putrajaya said in the last 24-hour, 95 patients were discharged.
As of today, a total of 3,957 patients have recovered from Covid-19.
“There are 1,764 active cases being treated at the country’s health facilities at present. Our Covid-19 recovery rate is now at 67.9 per cent out of the total number of positive cases,” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham also revealed that one more death was recorded this morning.
“The 99th fatality was a 78-year-old Malaysian man, who had a history of diabetes, hypertension and stroke. He was treated at Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Johor since April 7 and was pronounced dead at 4.30am.
“Currently, 37 patients being treated at intensive care units (ICU) with 17 needing ventilator support,” he added.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s movement control order (MCO) has been extended to a fourth phase, and set to end on May 12. — DayakDaily
