BINTULU, Nov 13: One person was killed and three others injured in a collision between a long trailer and a 4WD vehicle in front of the Shell Samalaju petrol station along Jalan Coastal Bintulu–Miri on Wednesday (Nov 12).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Kidurong responded to the emergency at 5.33pm, swiftly deploying a team to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found that the 4WD was carrying two men, a Malaysian national and an Indonesian national, who were trapped inside the vehicle. Both were successfully rescued.
The Indonesian man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Malaysian passenger sustained injuries.
The trailer driver suffered a left-leg injury, and his passenger, also an Indonesian national, sustained minor injuries.
All injured victims received immediate treatment from ambulance personnel at the scene before being transported to the hospital.
The deceased victim has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
The operation concluded at 7.16 pm after the Bomba team ensured the safety of the site. — DayakDaily
