KUCHING, June 5: The federal government will provide an one-off assistance of RM300 to the disabled people widely known as the Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU) and single mothers.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the federal government is always concerned about the welfare of certain target groups such as the OKU and single mothers.

“As such, more than 300,000 OKU and single mothers listed under the Social Welfare Department will be eligible to receive the one-off RM300 assistance to reduce their financial burden.

“Hopefully, the payment will be channelled before Hari Raya Aidiladha,” he said when addressing the country’s short-term economic recovery plan during a live telecast from his office at Putrajaya today.

Meanwhile, Hari Raya Aidiladha or Hari Raya Haji for 2020 falls on July 31, 2020.

Muhyiddin added the federal government will be allocating grants for non-governmental organisations (NGO) as well.-DayakDaily
