Nurul Asikin Lan murder case: Suspect’s remand extended to Dec 29

KUCHING, Dec 22: The remand of the 23-year-old man suspected of murdering Nurul Asikin Lan has been extended by an additional seven days until December 29.

The extension was ordered by Assistant Registrar Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali after the suspect’s initial remand expired today.

Authorities are detaining the suspect to assist with investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The body of the late Nurul Asikin was found by members of the public around 9pm on December 14.

On Dec 18, Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah confirmed that DNA testing identified the remains as belonging to Nurul Asikin.

Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata revealed that the suspect had allegedly confessed to the murder, citing financial needs as the motive.

According to the confession, the suspect intended to pawn the victim’s gold bracelet and earrings to fund a trip to Cambodia to watch a football match. — DayakDaily
