“This memorandum represents a crucial milestone in our mission to establish Sarawak’s carbon registry.

“With the Carbon Exchange’s extensive expertise in managing international carbon registries, Sarawak is set to develop a transparent, competitive, and credible carbon market ecosystem,” he said at the NREB Excellence and Service Awards Night on Wednesday (Oct 8).

The MoC was signed by Jack and Bursa Malaysia CEO Dato’ Fad’l Mohamed, in the presence of the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Jack added that the partnership aligns with NREB’s mandate under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Ordinance, which empowers the board to develop and manage Sarawak’s carbon registry.

Once established, the registry will serve as a central platform to record, monitor, and manage carbon credits, positioning Sarawak as a regional leader in the carbon market. — DayakDaily
