Noon blaze in Marudi leaves six homeless

Firefighters put out the last of the blaze.

MARUDI, May 14: A fire has left six people homeless in Kampung Cina Marudi here on Monday.

No casualties were reported in the 12.18pm incident as victims managed to flee from the double-storey wooden house upon seeing plumes of smokes.

One fire engine led by PPgB Maureen Sim immediately rushed to the scene after the Fire and Rescue Department were alerted about the incident.

The DayakDaily was made to understand that the team had just completed a search and rescue operation in Kampung Narum, searching for a man who was reported missing last week.

They managed to put out the blaze at 2.29pm.

The victims sift through debris to search for their valuables.

The actual cause of the incident has yet to be determined as investigations are underway.

According to sources, the six victims — comprising one man, two women and three boys — were renting the house. — DayakDaily
