KUCHING: The search continues for a 73-year-old man reported missing after he left his house without the knowledge of his family at Kampung Long Moh, Long Lama, Sarawak on Wednesday (May 27).

The disappearance was only reported to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) on Friday (May 29) by the missing man’s son after he received a message about his missing father from his cousin in the same village the night before .

According to the man’s son, his cousin told him that his father had gone out of the house and had failed to return on the same day.

Bomba immediately despatched a team to the village which is about 8-10 hours away depending on travel conditions.

Upon reaching the scene yesterday, Bomba immediately began the search and rescue (SAR) operation by using the water surface searching on the river. The missing man’s family is unsure whether he had gone to the river or the forest.

After failing to locate the missing man on the first day of the SAR operation, Bomba deployed three teams to search for the man within a two to three-kilometre radius of the forest today.

As of press time, the SAR operation is ongoing. — DayakDaily
