No phones while driving, be vigilant of road signage during balik kampung trip

Supt Alexson Naga Chabu

KUCHING, Jan 23: Drivers have been advised against using their handphones and always be on the alert of road signages when travelling back to their home town for the Chinese New Year holidays.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, said road users must obey traffic rule, follow the stipulated speed limits on the road and be aware of the signage on the roadside.

“Be considerate and follow the vehicle in front with a safe distance, avoid driving slowly on the right lane and follow the instruction of the traffic control authorities, if there is any on the road.

“This is important to ensure everyone’s safety on the road,” he said in his Chinese New Year message.

Alexson reminded road users to ensure that their vehicles are in good running condition to avoid any untoward incident, especially for long distance travel.

He also advised road users to plan the travel properly and always be prepared with a second driver in case the need arises.

“Obey all the traffic rules and do not attempt anything that is prohibited such as driving while operating a handphone, running a traffic light, as well as other prohibitions on the road,” he continued. — DayakDaily
