KUCHING, Oct 2: The public will not be required to use MyDigital ID to log in to the MyJPJ app starting Oct 10, announced Malaysia Transport Minister Anthony Loke in addressing concerns raised on social media about the initiative.

In a news report by TVS quoting Bernama, Loke clarified that MyJPJ users can continue logging in as usual.

“There is no need for concern about being unable to access MyJPJ after Oct 10. That’s not the case. The app will remain accessible quickly and easily,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Earlier reports suggested that MyJPJ users would need to log in using MyDigital ID starting from that date.

MyDigital ID is a form of digital identification and authentication that will be used by both the public and private sectors for verifying users’ identities during online transactions.

Loke explained that the instruction regarding the use of MyDigital ID in MyJPJ app had been issued through a pop-up notification within the app.

He emphasised that the directive did not come from the Ministry of Transport or the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and had been removed immediately.

“The information provided through the MyJPJ pop-up may have caused confusion among the public.

“I’ve noticed many comments on social media expressing concerns and feedback on the matter,” he said, adding that the MyJPJ app currently has 10.5 million users.

Loke affirmed that the Ministry supports the use of MyDigital ID, but the integration with MyJPJ will be handled on the backend.

“We’ve had discussions and agreed that the use of MyDigital ID for logging in to MyJPJ should be implemented smoothly.

“We aim to ensure that MyJPJ users face no issues, and the backend integration will take some time,” he said. — DayakDaily
