KUCHING, Aug 19: Motorists in Miri can now check and pay parking compounds conveniently through the Borneo Park Miri mobile app following the launch of the e-Compound Parking System 2025 by Miri City Council (MCC).
The system, launched yesterday (Aug 18) at Marina Phase 2 in Miri by Miri City Mayor and Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii Siew Sang, marks a major step forward in service delivery by reducing the need for physical counter visits.
“Through this system, enforcement officers can issue notices instantly via mobile devices, with details stored directly in the central system in real time.
“Each notice is secure and transparent, bearing MCC’s official logo, compound number, vehicle details, time, location, and type of offence,” Yii said, as reported by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
He stressed that the initiative was more than a digital upgrade but a progressive move towards efficiency, transparency, and sustainability.
The pilot implementation is currently running at Marina Phase 1 and Marina Phase 2, both high-traffic areas, before it is expanded across the city.
Yii also pointed out that improved parking management will contribute towards making Miri more organised, accessible, and visitor-friendly, while at the same time supporting green city aspirations through reduced paper usage.
He further thanked MCC’s enforcement team and partner BPS Parking Systems Sdn Bhd for their efforts in making the project a success, while encouraging the public to embrace and familiarise themselves with the new system.
With the slogan ‘Smart Parking. Trusted Service. Better Miri’, MCC is confident the initiative will transform the city’s parking system into one that is modern, efficient, and fair for all. — DayakDaily
