KUCHING, Aug 25: Firefighters were forced to cut off water supply from a fire hydrant at Taman Malihah as the hydrant was being misused for other purposes, apart from firefighting.

According to Petra Jaya fire station chief Azaharul Sahari, it was revealed certain parties were stealing water from the hydrant located at Lorong 7 following complaints received from residents in the area at 2.30pm yesterday.

“Upon checking, we found that the hydrant had been modified. As it is considered theft, it left us with no choice but to cut off the illegal pipe and and valve that supplied water to stop irresponsible people from misusing it,” Azaharul disclosed in a statement. — DayakDaily
