KUCHING, Nov 29: The maiden shipment of cement from Vietnam has arrived at Tanjung Manis Port last Friday (Nov 24), says Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said this supply of cement will address the issue of cement shortage in the State and meet the demand of the construction industry to accelerate Sarawak’s infrastructure development.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari said a substantial ceiling amounting to RM38 billion was approved under the 12 Malaysia Plan (12MP) Mid Term Review to accelerate the socio-economic development in the region and to meet the requirement of private investors.

“This amount is over and above the alternative funding that has been allocated for strategic infrastructure projects,” he said when delivering his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.

He applauded the Sarawak government’s success in bringing investors to Sarawak the past few years due to its political stability, clear policies and strategies as well as the means to facilitate private investment.

Thus, he declared to the august House that the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 is on track. — DayakDaily
