SIBU, Feb 15: No entertainment centres were compounded during an integrated operation on standard operating procedure (SOP) violations last night.

Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division Sibu, DSP Ariffin Bahar said the non-issuance of the compound showed that entertainment outlets had fully complied with the SOP guidelines.

“Last night we carried out inspections on three karaoke centers and three cafes from 12 midnight onwards and found that none of them had violated the SOP of Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan,” he said.

Among the SOP were the scanning of the MySejahtera QR code, physical distancing, and wearing of mask.

The operation involved about 100 policemen from the central police station, Sungai Merah police station, lanang police station and Sibujaya police station.

DSP Ariffin expressed satisfaction with the cooperation of entertainment centres for complying with the SOP.

As the operation was in conjunction with the Chap Goh Mei celebration which falls today, he said a similar one would be conducted tonight.

“We will continue with the operation tomorrow night (tonight) to check on the display of fireworks,” he said.

He had previously said that only a light display of fireworks would be allowed, and not for them to continuously light fireworks for half an hour to an hour. — DayakDaily
