KUCHING, July 28: Sarawak registered 464 new Covid-19 cases and no deaths today, with Kuching recording 184 — the highest of all the districts in the State.
According to a report from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, 349 cases out of the 464 cases were derived from close contact to Covid-19 patients, 17 cases from screening of individuals in existing Covid-19 clusters, 42 cases from symptomatic screening at health facilities and 56 cases from screening at health facilities.
Based on the distribution of new cases among districts in Sarawak, Kuching recorded the highest number of new cases at 184.
This was followed by Serian which registered 79 cases, Samarahan (66), Meradong (21), Bintulu (19), Bau (16), Sibu (15), Tebedu (10) and Tatau (10).
There were 14 districts which recorded single digit cases and they were Asajaya with nine cases, Dalat (7), Lundu (6), Miri (5), Mukah (4), Kapit (3), Saratok (2), Telang Usan (2), Simunjan (1), Betong (1), Song (1), Pusa (1), Selangau (1) and Beluru (1).
Thus, the additional new cases have increased the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 75,211.
On the other hand, 278 Covid-19 patients recovered and discharged from health facilities bringing total recoveries in Sarawak to 69,828 cases or 92.84 per cent of the overall Covid-19 cases reported.
In spite of that, 4,754 Covid-19 patients are being treated in health facilities throughout the State while 30 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 12 patients were on ventilator support. — DayakDaily
