No death but 7 new Covid-19 patients, 155 PUI recorded in Sarawak

KUCHING, April 13: Sarawak recorded seven new Covid-19 positive cases today.

On a positive note, no casualty were reported in the state, said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

He added that all the new cases of Covid-19 are being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).


“There are also 155 new cases of person under investigation (PUI) being reported.

“Based on the location of the new PUI cases, Kuching has 116, Serian has 22, Samarahan (7), Bau and Miri with three each and two each in Sri Aman and Bintulu,” he told a press conference on Covid-19 updates at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.

Touching on the movement control order (MCO), Abdul Karim said compliance rate among the public was estimated at 97 per cent.

However, 13 people were arrested across the state yesterday for violating the MCO.

Of the lot, three were detained in Mukah, two each in Limbang and Sri Aman, and one each in Kuching, Padawan, Sibu, Kota Samarahan, Bau and Matu Daro.

He added that the police have fined 110 people for not adhering to the restricted movement order.

“Since the order was enforced on March 18, a total 374 people have been fined and 586 people have been arrested for violating the MCO,” Abdul Karim said. — DayakDaily
