SIBU, Nov 10: The RMCO enforcement authority in Sibu is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that this town remains a Covid-19 green zone.
Sibu Crime Prevention and Community Policing Department chief, DSP Ariffin Bahar told reporters when conducting standard operating procedure (SOP) monitoring at the Sibu Central Market today, there would be no compromise should any trader or individual be caught failing to abide by the SOP.
“Today I am leading an RMCO (recovery movement control order) enforcement team from the central police station and Lanang police station. Sibu is still in the green zone and we want to ensure that it remains so,” he said.
He said the team is carrying out similar monitoring in other parts of the town including at other markets and business premises and would not hesitate to take immediate action against SOP flouters.
“There are still some traders here (Sibu Central Market) and their customers who are not following the SOP especially the wearing of face masks. I will not compromise on this anymore and will immediately issue compounds. If we are not strict, residents here will take the matter lightly,” he added.
Ariffin said that he would also instruct the local council to close down business premises for 14 days if they are found to be not complying with the SOP guidelines such as not having log books to record customer details, or not using the Mysejahtera app, not ensuring customers observe physical distancing or wear face masks, and not using thermal temperature scanners.
Meanwhile two traders at the central market were fined RM1,000 for not wearing face masks.
The action was taken under Regulation 8 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020. ā DayakDaily
