KUCHING, Jan 3: The proposed standardisation of school uniforms remains under study, and no changes will be implemented for the 2026 school session.

In a statement on Friday (Jan 2), Ministry of Education (MOE) said a final decision would only be made after a comprehensive review of all relevant aspects, with any possible implementation targeted for the 2027 school session.

As such, there will be no changes to existing school uniforms for students this year.

The ministry assured parents and other stakeholders that any decision on the matter would be communicated well in advance.

MOE explained that the proposal to standardise school uniforms is aimed at fostering a sense of togetherness and unity among students, while also helping to ease the financial burden on parents in preparing their children for school.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring that any policy decision takes into account the welfare of students and families, as well as the views of all relevant stakeholders. — DayakDaily
