KUCHING, July 31: A RM100 cash aid will be automatically credited to the MyKad of all Malaysians aged 18 and above, with no application required.
In a TVS news report, Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the initiative is part of the Rahmah Basic Contribution Appreciation (SARA) programme, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 23.
“The crediting process is done automatically based on MyKad holder data from the National Registration Department (JPN). Recipients do not need to take any action,” he said during Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was responding to a query from Syerleena Abdul Rashid (Pakatan Harapan – Bukit Bendera) regarding the registration process and eligibility to receive and spend the RM100 under the SARA initiative.
Amir Hamzah explained that the initiative covers 22 million adult Malaysians born in 2007 or earlier, and will be implemented from Aug 31 to Dec 31, 2025.
The aid can be used at selected retail outlets to purchase essential daily items.
The government has allocated RM2 billion for the initiative, which allows purchases of over 90,000 products across 14 categories, including rice, eggs, medicine, personal hygiene items, and school supplies.
“The RM100 credit can be used at over 4,500 registered retail outlets such as Giant, Mydin, Bataras, C-Mart, TF Value, and other participating local stores. Retailers interested in joining the programme can register with Yayasan MyKasih,” he added.
Amir Hamzah also announced that the combined allocation for the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) and SARA initiatives this year has been increased to RM15 billion, an increase of 50 per cent compared to the previous year.
He advised the public to stay vigilant against scams or fake websites that claim registration is required for the aid, stressing that the entire process involves no forms, applications, or additional verification from recipients. — DayakDaily
