MIRI, Aug 15: Implementing basic amenities and development infrastructures is not like rubbing Aladdin’s magic lamp, as it takes time to complete and progress, says Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“Some people have critised us for being slow in bringing and implementing of these development projects, but they have to understand, we have no ‘Aladdin magical lamp’, and in reality, things take time to complete,” said the Minister of Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports on Saturday.

He added that Sarawak leaders have always been committed to bringing infrastructure facilities and basic amenities to the Rakyat

Speaking at the opening of the ‘Jelajah Belia Sarawak 2020 (Piasau)’ on Saturday at Miri Civic Centre, he added that those who always criticized the government should understand that the process is time consuming.

He added that Sarawak leaders have always been committed to bringing infrastructure facilities and basic amenities to the Rakyat.

He said that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has been always passionate about  digital development especially in telecommunication and broadband connectivity for the people in rural Sarawak.

“It takes time, and that is the thing that we have to understand,” he said.

On another note, Karim reminded and urged the people especially the youth to preserve the tradition of understanding and tolerance among races, which has always been the key to Sarawak’s strength.
