KUCHING, Nov 1: Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang opined that non-governmental organisations (NGOs) organise more blood donation campaigns to save lives.

According to Lo, who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman such good deeds might potentially help many others especially Sarawakians who are in dire need of blood transfusion.

“We should donate blood to give someone another chance in life. That someone may be a close relative, a friend, a loved one or even a stranger.

“To give blood you do not need extra strength nor extra food yet you will save a life. You have the most precious resource of all, the ability to save a life by donating blood,” he said in a press statement, today.

Meanwhile, Lo encouraged members of youth organisations in the state to come forward and participate in community events such as the blood donation drive.

He said the corporate entities could also do the same to give back to society through their corporate social responsibilities (CSR) initiatives.

“Help share this invaluable gift with someone in need. Research shows that Covid-19 does not spread through blood donation and blood transfusion. Therefore, do not be afraid to donate blood especially under strict standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he added.

On another note, Lo congratulated HERO (financial planning management services group agency) together with Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Blood Bank and all the sponsors involved in organising the Blood Donation Drive held at CityOne Megamall recently.

He was happy to note that despite the current Covid-19 pandemic and Kuching being in the red zone status, the turn out of blood donors was very encouraging. – DayakDaily.
