KUCHING, July 19: Dayak Nation Institute (DANI) will host a seminar titled ‘Randau NCR: Hidden Truth’ in Sibu this August 11.
Among the topics to be presented are Native Customary Rights (NCR) land issues in relation to the Land Code, especially those under Sections 6, 13, 18, and 28.
According to DANI Kuching programme coordinator, William Mangor, former Land and Survey officer Matthew Jeluing would share ideas and solutions over land issues and the risks of the mentioned sections.
“DANI chairman Rapelson Richard will talk on the importance of private mapping to safeguard NCR land. He will propose to the community to do their own mapping or seek assistance from DANI.
“PBDSB (Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru) president Cobbold John will talk about community empowerment, land bank strategy, utilisation and monetisation of NCR land, and how to turn Dayaks into millionaires,” William said in a statement today.
As a landowner himself, Cobbold will also share his experiences in dealing with native land cases in court.
Meanwhile, PBDSB Women’s chief Sylvia John will talk about the Malaysia Agreement 1963’s (MA63) history and its relation to NCR.
The seminar, with the entrance fee of RM50 per person, will be held at the PBDSB office at Lot 1192, Sublot 5855, 1st Floor, Sibu Jaya from 9am.
Seats are limited to 80 participants and the deadline for booking is August 8.
