MIRI, August 9: Firefighters put 12 media personnel through their paces today to hone their water survival skills. The ‘Water Confident Programme’ also served as an opportunity for the participants to have better knowledge about what firefighters have to go through in rescue work.
Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said, “It is important to train the public on the fundamentals of water survival and to develop ‘amphibious’ confidence.”
Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) president Andy Jong said the 2-day event was organised by the association and Bomba Miri. Besides practical sessions, the participants were also taught water survival theory. — DayakDaily
