MIRI, March 29: Two new outdoor pickleball courts at the Piasau Boat Club Miri, which were officially declared open on March 26, aimed to produce national pickleball players in the near future.

When declaring the courts opened, the Commodore of the club, Ilyas Adam thanked the Malaysia Pickleball Association (MPA) and all the Miri pickleball players for their great contributions to make these two courts materialised.

These courts are considered the best pickleball courts in Malaysia to date and were converted from an unused tennis court.

With the pickleball courts as an additional feature at Piasau Boat Club, it hopes to attract its members to pick up the sport and at the same time to hold pickleball workshops and tournaments.

Currently the Pickleball sessions at the club are held on every Wednesday and Friday , from 5pm onwards.

For a limited time, these sessions are open to the members of the public as well.

Those who would like to try out this fun and exciting sport, children and youths especially, are encouraged to participate as one of the targets is to produce national pickleball players in the near future.

Pickleball started in Miri in 2019. It is now played in Miri, Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Sibu, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Sabah.

There are currently six active pickleball clubs in Miri.
