KUCHING, May 8: Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg today received a courtesy call from newly appointed Sarawak Mufti Datu Khalidi Ibrahim at the Satria Pertiwi Complex.
According to TVS news, the visit marked Khalidi’s first official courtesy call since assuming the role of Sarawak Mufti on March 1, succeeding Datu Kipli Yassin, whose tenure concluded on Feb 28.
Over his 16 years of service, Kipli played a pivotal role in strengthening the administration of Islamic affairs in Sarawak, enhancing the fatwa institution, and elevating the development of Islamic values and teachings across the State.
Prior to his appointment, Khalidi served as a Syariah reference expert at the Sarawak Mufti Department, where he contributed significantly to the institution’s development and advisory functions.
His appointment is viewed as a continuation of efforts to further strengthen Sarawak’s fatwa institution, ensuring it remains authoritative, relevant, and responsive to contemporary challenges and developments.
Also accompanying him during the courtesy call was Sarawak Mufti Department deputy director Khalipah Juli. — DayakDaily
