KUCHING, Dec 22: Batu Kawah assemblyman Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian states that under the Sarawak government, all new resettlement schemes will be implemented as affordable housing, such as Spektra Permata, with concrete drains, tar seal roads, street lighting, and all other necessary amenities.

According to Dr Sim, who is also the Deputy Premier of Sarawak, such implementation is cheaper in the long run.

“The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) assessment collection for individual houses will never be enough to cover all of the drainage infrastructure for the old resettlement schemes, which is 30 to 40-years-old.

“Hence, under Abang Jo (Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg), all new resettlement schemes will be implemented as affordable housing, such as Spektra Permata, with concrete drains, tar seal roads, street lighting, and all the necessary amenities, as it is cheaper in the long run,” said Dr Sim in a Facebook post yesterday (Dec 21).

He also mentioned the upgrade of the earth drain to a concrete drain and the resurfacing of the road in Taman Sri Emas 8 under the N14 Rural Transformation Project (RTP).

“Hopefully, the drainage upgrade for SPS/Tmn Sri Emas will be completed in a systematic manner in the coming years,” remarked Dr Sim. — DayakDaily
