KUCHING, Dec 26: MySJ Trace, a new feature introduced in the MySejahtera app, will allow the Health Ministry to speed up contact tracing efforts.

On his Twitter account today, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said MySJ Trace will use Bluetooth signal to track down close contacts of Covid-19 who use the same feature.

He added the new feature would provide “live” information on the number of interactions with other users who activated their MySJ Trace.

“If one is tested positive, one can send the interaction data to the Ministry of Health at Putrajaya for contact tracing. All data interactions will be kept secret.

“This new feature will be useful, especially in public places with indoor settings.

“The checkout feature will no longer be used,” he said in another tweet today.

Khairy said the new feature in the MySejahtera app has been sent simultaneously to Google, Apple, and Huawei and can currently be updated in Huawei smartphones.

He said the Health Ministry is awaiting the companies to enlist the updated feature into their operating systems for smartphones using Google and Apple technologies. — DayakDaily
