MIRI, Jan 18: The new Miri Sentral Bus Terminal is now officially open, which replaced the Pujut Bus Terminal.
According to Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang, the terminal has become a new symbol of Miriās progress in public transport infrastructure.
āOver the years, Pujut Bus Terminal has served us well. However, as Miri has grown, our facilities also need to expand to meet the community’s growing needs.
āThis achievement results from collaborative efforts between the Sarawak government, Sarawak Ministry of Transport, and Miri City Council.
āTogether, we have created a facility that not only meets todayās transport needs but also anticipates future needs,ā he said at the opening ceremony of the Miri Sentral Bus Terminal today, as reported by TVS.
The Pujut assemblyman also hoped that the new terminal would be seen as a transport facility and a centre of connectivity and economic activity.
āIt should serve as a gateway that enhances mobility for all, improves the daily commute of residents, and welcomes visitors to experience the beauty and friendliness of Miri,ā he said.
At the same time, he called on users to take care of this facility so that it continues to be a symbol of progress that reflects concern for the community.
The new terminal is equipped with various modern facilities, including 12 ticket counters, 12 retail outlets, 14 bus platforms, two cafes, disabled-friendly toilets, and a spacious and comfortable waiting area.
The terminal operates daily from 5am to 11pm.
Apart from being a long-distance and local bus service centre, this terminal also serves as a hub for taxi and e-hailing services, making it more accessible to users. ā DayakDaily
