New Miri City Hall building targeted for completion in Q1 2021

KUCHING, July 23: The construction of a barrel shaped building to serve as the new Miri City Hall is expected to be completed by the first quarter of next year.

Minister for Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian revealed the construction of the RM90 million nine-storey building has already reached level seven, with two more levels to go in the next two months.

“By Q1 (quarter one) next year, Miri will have a people-centric, green building certified, iconic city hall, timely to commemorate Miri (‘s anniversary) as a city for 15 years,” he disclosed in a post on his Facebook page today.


Dr Sim visited the project site with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday.

He revealed that with the new building and RM12 million allocated for the pilot Smart City initiative, Miri city will truly the first digital city in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
