KUCHING, Jan 2: With four new Covid-19 cases reported relating to Case 1,115 in Meradong, a new cluster, the Mador Cluster was declared today.

This was announced by State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) as it reported, up to date, a total of eight cases including the index case in the cluster.

However, the committee assured that all eight cases are currently receiving treatment in isolation wards in hospitals and they are in stable conditions. No fatalities have been reported yet.

“A total of 322 individuals have been swabbed, where eight cases were positive, 201 individuals were negative and the other 113 individuals are still awaiting laboratory test results.

“This, thus make the positive case rate of this cluster to be 2.49 per cent,” it added in a statement today.

The four new positive cases related to the Mador Cluster were close contacts with the index case whereby one of them is the sister of the index case, and the others are friends and co-workers of the sister.

Four of them had visited and stayed overnight at the house of Case 1,115 from Dec 24 and 26, and that is when they were infected with the virus.

Meanwhile, Sibu regained its Covid-19 green zone status today after zero local transmission cases were detected in the district for the past 14 days.

With that, Kuching, Meradong, Bintulu and Lawas remain yellow zones, with four cases in Kuching, three cases in Meradong, two cases in Bintulu and one case in Lawas. —DayakDaily
