New Jalan Spur to cut travel time from Sare to Sarikei

SARIKEI, Oct 7: A new Jalan Spur linking Sare to Jalan Sentebu/Bukit Kinyau is set to shorten travel time to Sarikei, with the project expected to be completed within 12 months.

Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif said the road project was being implemented under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA), with the Public Works Department (JKR) as the implementing agency in collaboration with the Sarikei Division Land and Survey Department.

“The programme reflects the Sarawak government’s continued commitment to accelerating rural development while implementing various strategic initiatives to strengthen the economy and improve the people’s standard of living,” he said shared in his social media today.

The project also involved the payment of RM1,497,673.21 in land compensation to 20 recipients, involving 45 cheques.

The programme also saw the presentation of a RM16,000 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contribution to Sekolah Kebangsaan Sarikei.

Also present were Zameer Zakwan Razali, representing Tanjung Manis MP Dato Yusuf Abdul Wahab; Sarikei Division Acting Resident Shafrie Saili; Sarikei Divisional Public Works Department Engineer Kennedy Kedo; Sarikei Divisional Land and Survey Superintendent Awan Amal; department heads, community leaders and ethnic leaders. — DayakDaily
