KUCHING, Dec 24: Newly elected N8 Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki will look into implementing new housing projects to address the population increase in his constituency.

He said this is one of the priority areas that he will work on, adding that his predecessor-cum-Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg himself has directed him to look into the matter.

“In the city area, there is a shortage of houses so we have to build affordable homes,” he told reporters at a session with the media in conjunction with Christmas Eve celebration held at Thompson Corner coffeeshop in Kuching today.

He also said he would focus on developing human capital in Satok which includes upgrading the youths in terms of education and human resources.

Another focus area for Ibrahim was to look into the Chinese-based areas and engage with all the stakeholders in Satok.

“Although I have been (serving as a partyman) in Satok for 36 years, my team and I will continue to actively engage with the constituents especially with regards to the two Chung Hua schools (Chung Hua Middle School No 4 and SJK Chung Hua No 4), St Joseph and other schools in Satok.

“We will look into all aspects but the key is to build up human capital which will encompass education and employment opportunities,” he added.

Additionally, Ibrahim informed that he would create an incubator for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro businesses as soon as possible.

He explained that youths who have just graduated and wish to venture into business cannot find an office space and this would become an obstacle for them to apply for an occupation permit (OP).

“If they have no OP, they cannot register their company. Therefore, I am trying to find a suitable place to act as an incubator for the young entrepreneurs to register their office,” he emphasised. – DayakDaily
