“Hence, with one more battalion, our strength will be further enhanced at the Sarawak border.

“The GOF team focuses on guarding security areas and monitoring illegal activities, or more specifically smuggling activities, in the border areas,” he was quoted as saying.

Che Ghazali spoke to reporters after conducting an initial aerial survey in conjunction with the ‘Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Madani to Sarawak’ programme here today.

He revealed that in conjunction with the festive season, GOF also tightened border controls to combat smuggling activities, particularly those involving subsidised goods such as cooking oil and gas cylinders, into the neighbouring country.

Meanwhile, regarding the ‘IGP Madani to Sarawak’ programme, which will take place from April 9 to 10 at the Telok Melano border control post, he stated that over 600 people are expected to attend, with participation from the Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Armed Forces, Indonesian National Army, and Indonesian Police.

Bernama also reported that Che Ghazali had earlier spent nearly 90 minutes visiting the Telok Melano-Temajuk border area. — DayakDaily
