KUCHING, Nov 25: The formation of the Federal Cabinet must be based on the calibre and capability and not on quota for each party supporting the unity government.
This is the view of the Deputy Minister in Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, when asked about his expectations of the new Federal Cabinet, which may involve Sarawakian MPs.
He said the appointment of Cabinet ministers does not necessarily have to take into consideration of quota of the parties that support the unity government.
Priority should be placed on the welfare of the people and the nation’s dignity.
“I am sure that all citizens want a government that is able to govern and manage the country with transparency, integrity and efficiency, especially in economic recovery and the welfare of the people.
“I hope the new Cabinet line-up is made up of those who are of the highest calibre and capability to manage all ministries by implementing the best management culture and introducing constructive policies for the development of the country.
“The selection of Cabinet members does not have to just meet the quota of the parties that support it.
“The welfare of the people and the dignity of the country should be prioritised and not the interests of individuals and their positions,” said Abdullah in a press statement today.
