KUCHING, Dec 5: A new cultural village will be set up in Miri by utilising the Federation of Orang Ulu Associations of Sarawak Malaysia’s (FORUM) headquarters near Padang Kerbau once construction is completed.
According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS) today, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said the FORUM headquarters would provide ample space and allow artists from the Kelabit, Kayan, Kenyah, Lumbawang, Bisaya, and many other communities to put on cultural performances for tourists.
“They (tourists) will be given a schedule of performances which will become a tourist attraction, and visitors will have to pay a fee to watch it,” TVS quoted him as saying.
Construction on FORUM’s headquarters is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 and officiated by the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in early 2024. — DayakDaily
